A special thing about the ICQ is that it focuses on chemistry. This course makes chemistry relevant and exciting for secondary school students. All students are welcome to ICQ. The ICQ promotes chemistry instead of measuring chemistry knowledge everywhere, so teachers know how their students are doing. There's no syllabus content on the ICQ.
Some of the questions will be based on the Australian Curriculum, but the quiz is supposed to be fun and interactive. Many questions don't stretch beyond syllabus content, so they may not challenge students with higher levels of ability. In questions beyond syllabus content, students should be able to apply their knowledge and understanding.
For Credit, Distinction, and High Distinction levels, 40% of the participants will get Certificates of Merit. Only students from the same country or state can compete, and they'll get lapel pins and certificates of excellence. You won't get punished for wrong answers, and everyone is encouraged to participate. Seven languages are accepted for the ICQ, so it's an international quiz. Students from Australia and 20 other countries take part.
You'll have 60 minutes to answer 30 multiple-choice questions. You can take it online or on paper.
