About Southeast Asian Mathematics Olympiad (SEAMO)

Southeast Asian Mathematics Olympiad (SEAMO) is the brainchild of Terry Chew, the author of books like 'Wicked Mathematics' and the Olympiad series, 'Unleash the Maths Olympian in You'. The exam was introduced to India in 2016 and was offered to students of both Primary and Secondary schools. The exam is based on extensive research by the team in the Terry Chew Institute of Mathematical Olympiads and on the developed framework by examining multiple olympiads.

The framework is known as the RA*CE Framework and is used in the Terry Chew Acadamy. The academy has produced several students who have excelled in multiple international olympiads like Kangaroo, SASMO, NMOS, RIPMWC, SMOPS, Mathlympics, SMO, AMC8, AMC10 and many more.

SEAMO Olympiad Exams Benefits

SEAMO is a competition aimed at bringing the most creative and youngest minds at the highest level.

Experts at TCIMO minutely research each & every question such that all categories of students can be assessed and not just the good students.

As it is a single-stage exam, there is no rejection process hence students can participate and compete without the fear of failure.

Students will be able to get to know their standing on a larger competitive landscape with SEAMO providing each student with National and International ranks.

The exam provides a third party perspective of each student by benchmarking their ability & skills.

It presents a common platform that assesses the problem-solving ability of a student by compelling them to think deeply. Encourages students to develop Logical & Analytical Thinking ability.

In SEAMO, a student will get around 5 minutes to solve a question (a total of 25 questions in 120 minutes). So, it’s not a test of knowledge or speed but to check a child’s high order thinking ability & whether they can apply a learned concept while solving a problem.

A personalized report card will help a student to work on their weaknesses and improve upon them.

Based on the experience in SEAMO, a student will be able to develop a learning style for effective understanding which will eventually help in performing better in scholastic and competitive exams.

SEAMO Olympiad Exam Pattern

The exam is divided into six papers depending on the class of the student. The exam pattern includes:
