Learn Class 11 Math - Constructions

In geometry, construction refers to drawing angles, shapes, or lines correctly.

The geometrical figures are drawn using a compass and ruler. Compass is used to draw an arc or a circle while rulers are used to draw line segments and calculate the length.

Line segment

Two points are connected to construct a line segment, you need to assemble the two points and track them down. According to Euclid's first postulate he has mentioned that a line can be constructed between any two points.

Draw an equilateral triangle

  • A triangle whose all the sides are identical in length is known as an equilateral triangle. We will consider AB as a line segment. This line AB will be the lengths of all the three sides of the equilateral triangle.
  • Start with creating two circles with the help of a compass. The centre of the first and second circles will be A and B respectively. Now connect both the centres and we will obtain a line with distance AB. Now mark a single intersection point of circles as C. Draw AC and BC. Thus, an equilateral triangle is formed. AC will be the radius of the first circle we drew and BC will be the radius of the second circle.
