Learn Class 3 Math - Data Handling

Data Handling is a process of collection, reporting, and showing information in a form that is important to others in doing (study or retrieve information), for example, in graphs or charts. It is also known as statistics. It is also used to compare the data, which further takes out the mean, median, and mode. These three variants are used in both math and science.

Data is classified in graphs or charts for review and may cover facts, numbers, or measures. Data handling is a set of skills, including handling data, maintaining data records, interpreting data, and sharing data. Data handling may be as easy as regular record keeping on a sheet of paper.

Types of Data Handling

Data can be represented in different types, e.g.:

  • Bar Graph
  • Pictograph
  • Line Graph
  • Stem and Leaf Plots
  • Histogram
  • Dot Plots
  • Cumulative Tables and graphs
  • Frequency Distribution

Calculation of Mean, Median, and Mode

Mean is considered as an Average. To calculate the Mean, we add the numbers of values in the data set. Next is to divide that sum with the number of values in the data set.

Median is the central number placed in either ascending (small to highest) or descending (highest to small) order.

The Mode shows us the number that happened the most frequently in the data set.

The Range is the contrast between the highest and most profound values in the data set.
