Pictorial Representation of Data

Whenever we represent numerical data with the help of graphs or pictures, we call it a Pictorial representation of data. This visual description makes the perception more clear.

In pictographs, we practice icons, pictures, symbols, etc. continuously, to determine the correlation between two variable quantities. Pictographs can also be related to pictograms, graphical charts, pictorial graphs, or picture graphs. The number that each symbol or picture expresses is defined precisely in the representation; this helps to describe large quantities of data.

Pie Chart / Pie Graph

Whenever we represent the numerical data by simply dividing the circle into circles, we call it Pie chart and Pie graph. In other words, it is expressed as a circle graph. Every sector in the Pie chart represents a fraction, which means it is easy to understand.

Bar Graph/Column Chart

This is one of the simplest ways to express the data with rectangular bars. These bars are of different heights that are proportional to their represented value. A bar graph is also called a Bar chart, Column graph, or Column chart.

The bars can be considered vertically or horizontally. The bar graph does balance more comfortably. The name of the bar graph shows what the graph is of, and bars of various heights tell the facts or knowledge. Each bar serves a number for a special collection.
