Plants are viewed as the other form of Living beings. Some plants are big and some plants are small. Just like Humans, plants also need sunlight, water, air and soil to grow. With plants, our world becomes colorful. There are various types of Plants available on Earth that every class 2 student should know.

Types of Plants

Plants come in different shapes and sizes. Most plants come with leaves, while most come with flowers. Some plants are as follows:

1. Trees

A Tree is seen as a big and tall plant. It comes with branches and a strong stem that is called Trunk. Some trees include Mango tree, Neem tree, Mango tree etc.

2. Climbers

Climbers don’t have hard stems. They are weak and they need support to grow straight. Some climbers include Pea plant, Bean plant etc.

3. Creepers

Creepers consist of soft stems of green color. It grows along the ground. Creepers include Pumpkin, Watermelon, etc.

4. Herbs

Herbs are small plants with green stems. Some herbs include leaves, seeds that are used in cooking, medicinal and other purposes.

5. Shrubs

Shrubs have several branches and they grow near to the ground. The stem of the shrub is woody and thin. Also, shrubs are comparatively smaller than a tree.

What are the uses of Plants?

  • We get food like fruits, vegetables from Plants.
  • We get food like radish, carrot, and potatoes from the roots of the plant.
  • We get fruits like apples, Mango, Grapefruit from plants.
  • We get cotton clothes like towels, pillows, and bed sheets from the cotton plant.
  • Fiber plants help us in making jute bags etc.
