Electricity
Electricity is a form of energy used to run appliances in our everyday lives. Electricity is significant in today’s world. We can easily convert electricity to other energy forms.
But electricity must be handled with care because there are chances of getting a shock which can even become fatal.
Some examples of electricity are as follows:
- The fans and coolers run with electricity.
- The fridge in our homes uses electricity to keep things cool.
- The tube light and electric bulbs use electricity to produce light.
- The water heater used in houses also runs with the help of electricity.
Circuit
A circuit is a closed path along which electricity can flow.
A simple circuit can be formed by connecting a bulb and a battery with connecting wires.
There are two types of circuits
- The closed or complete circuit
- Open circuit
Closed-circuit
The circuit is closed when there is no interruption in the path in which current flows. The current passes without any problem in a complete circuit.
Open circuit
A circuit in which there is a gap at some point is called an open circuit. The current flow is interrupted in such a circuit.
Switch
We can use a switch to open and close a circuit with its on and off positions. When it is on, the path is closed, and when it is off, it is open.
