Learn Class 8 Science - Light

What is light? Is it a slight effect or drastic? The light is the only thing that makes us capable of seeing things. It is daytime only when we can see. And at night, all things become not visible without light.

Effect of light on the mirror:

  • Light is the only energy that helps humans to see things.
  • One can also call light radiation.
  • Such radiation gets affected by many other objects.
  • The mirror is the only thing that reflects the light.
  • It also changes the light direction of light.

Laws of reflection:

Mainly, there are two laws of reflection. And these are as follows:

First law:

This law constitutes that the incidence angle & reflection angle are always equal.

Second law:

All three rays, i.e., reflected, incident, and normal, occur in the same plane.

Terms:

1. Incident Ray:

It is a ray of light that falls on the surface.

2. Reflected rays:

It is a ray that gets reflected.

3. Normal:

The normal line is perpendicular to the reflected surface.

4. Reflection angle:

The angle which gets formed with the normal.

Incident rays always include one angle.

5. Incidence angle:

The angle which gets formed between normal and incident rays.
