Learn Class 10 Math - Surface Areas and Volumes

The surface areas are the areas that are only calculated in 3-D shapes. The area where the object will occupy the space within the region. And the space in the object is the volume of the prescribed figure.

Shapes

There are different shapes in geometry like cubes, cuboids, cones, spheres, cylinders, etc. And all the figures have different areas and shapes concerning each other with their volumes.

The 2-D figures will not have any volume; they only have the areas, including the total surface area of the curved surface area.

Different formulas for the shapes

1. Circle

  • Area = πr2
  • Circumference = 2πr

2. Square

  • Area = a2
  • Perimeter = 4a

3. Rectangle

  • Area = lb
  • Perimeter = 2 (l+b)

4. Cube

  • Curved surface area = 6a2
  • Volume = a3

5. Cylinder

  • Curved surface area = 2πrh
  • Volume = π r2h

6. Sphere

  • Curved surface area = 4π r 2
  • Volume = 4/3 π r 3

7. Hemisphere

  • Curved surface area = 2 π r 2
  • Volume = 2/3 π r 3

8. Cone

  • Total surface area = π r (r + l)
  • Curved surface area = π r l
  • Volume = 1/3 π r 2 h
