Learn Class 9 Science - Diversity in Living Organisms

The term diversity refers to organisms made of different sizes and shapes. Many plants are present that are of small grasses.

At the same time, the largest animal kingdom phylum consists of various species. And biodiversity refers to the animal and plant species that live in various geographical areas.

Classification

The diversity becomes so large that, as a result, it gives a need for its classification as the classification is not an easy process because it is very difficult to separate them according to the categories.

For the easier study of the animals and plants, these are classified into various subgroups.

  • The classification is done according to the presence of the nucleus in the cells.
  • It is due to the absence of a nucleus in the cells.
  • The number of cells present in the organism.
  • According to the mode of nutrition.
  • The classification of the kingdom is based on fungi, monera, Plantae, Protista, etc.

Plantae

  • The term Plantae refers to the multicellular, eukaryotic, and non-motile cells.
  • Plantae are sophisticated types of organisms that are capable of doing the process of photosynthesis.
  • The cell walls of plants are made of thick structures.

Animalia

  • Animalia refers to the multicellular, eukaryotic, and non-motile cells with the absence of walls.
  • The Animalia specialises in a wide range.
  • The members of the Animalia tissue are of the multi-tissue.
