Learn Class 9 Science - Gravitation

The universal gravitational law states that when the two bodies attract one another with the demand force, that is directly proportional to the square's distance. When the object's mass is large, then there is more force. Whereas when the mass is small, then there is less force. The force will also act upon the distance between the two objects.

Uniform motion & accelerated motion

  • The term uniform motion refers to the movement of an object with constant velocity.
  • When the object moves along with the velocity increment, it is known as accelerated motion.

Retarded motion

  • The term retarded motion refers to when it moves with a decreasing velocity.
  • Velocity direction is how the body will move.

According to Newton's Law:

F = ma

whereas

a = F divided by m,i.e, F/m

a = mg divided by m, i.e., mg/m

a = g; g = 9.8 m/s2

Thrust & Pressure

  • The term thrust refers to the force that is applied to an object.
  • It is a force that is always perpendicular to the surface.
  • The term pressure refers to the force that is always per surface unit.
  • Pressure is always equal to thrust divided by area,i.e., thrust/area.
