The term number system includes all the numbers. Whether you talk about natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, rational, irrational numbers, etc., these are the different types of numbers you will see.

Natural numbers

  • Natural numbers refer to the number that will start from 1 and go continuously.
  • The natural numbers will get represented with the symbol N.
  • Like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,.. and so on.

Whole numbers

  • The numbers will start from 0 and move on a continuity basis.
  • The whole numbers will get denoted by the symbol W.
  • Like 0,1,2,3,... and so on.

Integers

  • Integers are the number that will start even from negative and go on to positive.
  • The integers will get represented by the symbol Z.
  • Like -1, -5, 0, 1, 3 and so on.

Rational numbers

  • These are the types of numbers presented in the p/q form. And in which the q is not equal to zero.
  • Like: ⅔, ⅗

Irrational numbers

  • These are the types of numbers presented in the p/q form. And in which the q is equal to zero.
  • Like: √3, √7
