Learn Class 9 Math - Constructions

Construction is a term that needs the exact measurements of the figures. Whether we talk about the angles, line segment, circles, and other things, all must be available at the proper measurement.

Material required for proper construction

  • Many specific items need to be constructed, such as lines, angles, etc. These items are included in a geometry box. Such measurement items are below:
  • A scale that must consist of the centimetres and metres marking.
  • One pair of set squares must include the angles.
  • The divider must include adjustments.
  • Compass pair that can adjust the pencil in it.
  • And a protector.

Problem

It is given that a line segment is AB. We have to construct a perpendicular bisector for the AB line segment.

Solution

  • We have to take A & B as a centre. In such a way, r (radius) must be greater than 1/2 AB.
  • Draw an arc on the line segment, i.e., AB. You have to draw the arc so that they intersect each other.
  • Imagine that these arcs intersect at two points, i.e., A & B. Now join both points, i.e., PQ.
  • We see that PQ intersects AB at a single point. M. PMQ is perpendicular to AB.
