Learn Class 9 Math - Heron’s Formula

The figure that is enclosed from three sides is known as a triangle.

Generally, the triangle has each thing equal to three, i.e., three sides, three vertices, and three angles.

The Heron formula will be implemented in the equilateral triangle. And the equilateral triangle is a triangle whose all three sides are equal.

Triangle types

The triangles are of three types. All the types of triangles are discussed below:

1. A Scalene triangle:

  • The term scalene triangle refers to a triangle where all sides are different.
  • Such as, AB is not equal to BC and CA.

2. Isosceles triangle:

  • The term isosceles triangle refers to a triangle whose two sides are equal.
  • Such as, AB is equal to BC or CA.

3. An Equilateral triangle:

  • The term equilateral triangle refers to a triangle whose all the given three sides are equal.
  • Such as AB = BC = CA.

Formula of triangle

The triangle area is always equal to ½ x b x h. The simple formula gets implemented where all things, including base and height, are given.

Heron's formula

The heron's formula of triangle is equals to √(s - a) (s - b) (s - c), whereas s = (a + b + c) / 2
