Learn Class 7 Math - Data Handling

The term data handling includes various terms like a collection of data, range, frequency, mean, median and mode. The collection of data will make everything clear. But before the collection of data, we must need specific details about the concept.

Suppose we collect the data of class students, then we must know their actual performance. And how they deal with it.

Data

  • At first, the data will get collected from several pieces.
  • After the collection of data, it will get organised.
  • And at last, it will get represented.

Average

  • The term 'average' refers to the central tendency of the group.

Mean

  • The term 'mean' refers to the total observation sum and the number of outcomes.
  • We will get the result by dividing the sum term by the total outcomes.

Range

  • The term 'range' refers to the difference between the highest and lowest observation.
  • Range = Highest Observation - Lowest Observation.

Mode

  • The term 'mode' refers to the highest number of items in a given sequence.
  • Example: 2, 3, 4, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 5, 3. Here, 3 is the mode.

Median

  • The term 'median' refers to the centre part of the sequence.
    Example: 12, 14, 15, 18, 20, 22. Here, 15 is the median.
  • In the odd number series, the median is the middle number.
  • And in an even number series, the median is the total divided by 2.
