The word ‘punctuation’ refers to the marks in the sentences. With the help of punctuation, the sentences can become more attractive. These common punctuations are used to do the separation of sentences.

Some common punctuations are commas , brackets ( ) full stops .

Advantage of Punctuations

Types of Punctuations:

1. Colon:

  • The colon is one type of punctuation that joins the many sentences. And it also helps in separating the sentences.
  • The colon helps to join the lists, minutes-hours, clauses, etc.

2. Comma:

  • The comma also refers to the pause in the sentence.
  • And it also helps in the coordination of the adjectives.

3. Apostrophe:

  • The apostrophe deletes a letter in a word.
  • LIKE: do not-don't, will not- won't

4. Hyphen:

  • The hyphen is a short dash.
  • It helps in combining the two compound words.

5. Line Ending:

  • The full stop in a paragraph tells that the sentences get over.
  • The question mark will show that the line is asking a question.
  • The exclamation is pointed at the end of an explanatory sentence.
